The Real Me?

This is a drawing I had done of myself many years ago. I guess you can call it a self portrait but I really don't have tattoos on my face. That wasn't fashionable back in the 70's.

Our assignment was to draw ourselves but not as we really were. So this is what I came up with.

This was done in pencil, crayon, and ink. multimedium as it was called. this was one of two of my drawings that was entered in the art exhibition put on by the school. It didn't win anything though.

Pete's Eyes

I have always thought that the eyes were the most important part of the human face. It has been said that the eyes are the window to the soul.

These are the eyes of Pete Townshend. I drew this about 30 years ago. It is hard to think that it has been this long but I was in my last year of high school when I did this and that was in 1976. I always thought his eyes were the best to draw. Maybe because they are so mesmerizing!

This was done in ebony pencil, white crayon, eraser, My finger as a blender and a drawing tablet. The technique I used was kind of like a dot type stroke. I would take the pencil or crayon and peck at the paper, making little marks that when looked at from far away, was the shading on the subject matter. It was a long and tedious method as I had to always step away from the picture to see if it looked good from afar.

I have others that I will post in the coming weeks. As there is nothing new in the cat world this week.

Peter

This is a drawing I done of my son, Peter back in 1981. He was almost 4 years old at the time. It was done with an ebony pencil, gum eraser, my finger, and a drawing tablet. That was my technique at the time. I colored the background blue with a colored pencil at a later time. Mostly because of the fingerprints and smudges I could not erase.

I don't draw anymore. Just haven't had the 'inspiration' to do it. Also my eye hand coordination isn't what it used to be. I may try it again though.

Ari

Ari short for Aristotle is the orange kitten in the middle. He was born on May 15th, 2004. His mom is Patches.

Ari is the only kitten that survived out of the six that were born.

He has never lived outside and is the most loving cat we have in the house. I beleive it is because he was raised by humans. He does have his mischievious side too. He likes to tear up paper and kick a bunch of litter out of the box when he uses it. he also likes to walk around with a pack of feminine napkins when I forget to put them up. He will have them in shreds if i don't catch him quick enough.

He is a nut and he is very much loved, Even our Basset Harry will let Ari sleep in his bed and not disturb him. The other cats do not have that luxury. Ari Is a would have been feral cat had it not been for fate. It just wasn't his destiny.
