Yes you're right Dale! Patches is a girl and all torties/calicos are girls.
Hehe I didn't think of that, Patches on patches. Actually the name of the print is Night and Day. M.C. escher is a Dutch artist. He has some very interesting works.
Tortellini is doing great. She is preparing for hibernation. Her appetite is not as good and she is burrowing into the mulch. Hopefully all will go smoothly with that. Keep your fingers crossed!
Hi Zoe, That is my country - before I was born. No more steam boats now, towing sailing barges up the river.
You might like this one. (Remember the world knows Mr Escher only as M.C.): Before release of a new album, The Rolling Stones wanted one of those intriguing Escher images on the cover. Mick Jagger personally wrote a letter to get permission from the master, saying "Dear Martin,". M.C. Escher wrote back a devastating: "Dear Mr Jagger, I don't think we have been introduced..." Obviously there is no Stones album with an Escher illustration on it.
Mind you, this story may not be true, unless Sir Mick personally denies it.
Obviously you have shown her the fine art!! Patch was my girl I lost in Dec., 05. So when I see that name I melt a little. Well alot really. Hope all is well with you XX Grace
I made a mistake in saying the print is called "Night and Day". It is "Day and Night" to be correct. Sorry about that.
Koos, I don't think I ever heard that story about the Stones wanting to use one of Escher's works on a cover. Interesting. And I must say to you Koos, that whenever I look at that picture, I think of you as you are the only person I know that lives in The Netherlands. And with the canals and barges, you come to my mind. :)
Metalchick, I believe the work you are referring to is "Relativity". I like that one also.
Grace I am so sorry about the loss of your Patches. :(
I am originally from Chicago but moved to NC about 10 years ago. I am an animal lover and am currently involved in managing a feral/stray cat colony.
Music is my second love. It helps keep me sane!

How cute is that? Patches looks amazing with his (is it a he, I hope?) colours against the Escher print.
Patches has to be a she - she's a tortoiseshell...they only come in female, right Zoe?
I thought the print was a patchwork quilt at first...you know - Patches on patches. lol
But really, I did. I'm not familiar with Escher, but it's very interesting. A goose-eye view of the world...
:)

I didn't know calicos and tortoises were all girls- wow, you learn something new every day.
Thanks for the cheer up, sweetie.
By the way, how's Tortellini doing?

Good to hear Tortellini is happy in her new digs...

Patches is cute!
I love M.C. Escher's work! It's very interesting! My favorite is the stairs going in different directions.

All the best to Tortellini and good luck for her hibernation!
