Pete's Eyes

I have always thought that the eyes were the most important part of the human face. It has been said that the eyes are the window to the soul.

These are the eyes of Pete Townshend. I drew this about 30 years ago. It is hard to think that it has been this long but I was in my last year of high school when I did this and that was in 1976. I always thought his eyes were the best to draw. Maybe because they are so mesmerizing!

This was done in ebony pencil, white crayon, eraser, My finger as a blender and a drawing tablet. The technique I used was kind of like a dot type stroke. I would take the pencil or crayon and peck at the paper, making little marks that when looked at from far away, was the shading on the subject matter. It was a long and tedious method as I had to always step away from the picture to see if it looked good from afar.

I have others that I will post in the coming weeks. As there is nothing new in the cat world this week.

I pretty much agree with you. I tend to look at a person's eyes, and feel one can to some extent see the person's nature in them.

And Pete's eyes...Don't get me started, I'll ruin my cool appearance, hehe! Excellent drawing.

Zoe,
that is one awesome looking drawing of Pete. Well done.

Thank you also for listening to my stuff on IAC. I really appreciate it. I love Martha My Dear. I'm trying to record a cover of Blackbird presently, and it is quite tricky. The timing, even though they used a metronome, is not consistent all the way through, it speeds up, then the metronome goes away and comes back. I love that song. I imported the song onto ProTools and am going to use the original recording as the guide track, then see if I can add a click track manually that sounds like the metronome.. If I'm going to do a cover, I want it to sound as authentic as possible. Also interesting that the song, although it was sung by Paul, his voice sounds more like John to me, very nasal..

Thank you for your nice post.

Thanks Zoe,
I appreciate it very much, and I am very sorry for your loss.

Yeah, the moodies had some great songs. "The Actor", another one of my favorites, such beautiful melodies. Justin Hayward wrote some awesome poetry too.

Take care.

Oh,it's me again...
You said something on my blog that gave me goosebumps:
if I should be an entertaintment reporter...
Well, believe it or not, that was my part-time occupation in Greece. Reporting for magazines and radio stations... No time to do it here, bloody retail hours!!! I do collaborate with a couple of greek mags from time to time but that's very rare...
Blogging is something creative for me, I can write about anything and as much as I want, put the pix I want and lay it out as I think properly. I think we all enjoy it for these reasons. Plus the comments are always (99.9999% of the times!)positive!!!

Love from stormy London

Pete's eyes are utterly gorgeous. I agree with what you say. Wonderful drawing. Thank you so much for sharing it. It looks even better when I click on it to enlarge it. Then I can really see the depth that you accomplished precicely with your pencils work.
