Bath Time for New Years

Today was bath day. We hate bath day.

But because it will be the new year in just another day or so, we agreed to it. Our resolution for 2006 is no more baths!!!

Don't we look handsome? Good enough to take to a New Years Eve party.

We will stay home though. But we wish you a very Happy New Year!!

Patches and Her Kittens

Patches is a calico Kitten I had trapped back in May of 2004. She was VERY pregnant at the time, but I didn't realize how far along she really was. She is a small cat to begin with and her being a kitten herself, she did not appear VERY pregnant.
Anyway, I trapped her and put her in the crate where she would wait to be fixed the following week. On Saturday morning, I went in to feed her and clean her box when I saw she was in labor. Before I knew it, out came a kitten, then another, and another, and another. Four kittens. I had to get to work so I left Patches and her kittens with my family who looked after them. When I got to work I decided to call home and two more were born. Six kittens altogether.
This is Patches and her babies.

Patches was a very inexperienced mother and did not take very good care of her kittens. All but one died. His name is Ari. He lives with us. Patches had tamed down a lot after being spayed and we kept her too. She now lives a life of happiness and buns(rolls). Her favorite food.

Max

Hi, I'm Max. I used to be a feral cat. This is me a year ago when I lived on my own in the wild. I was a total mess. I had fleas, ear mites, worms, matted hair. Just a disaster!! Then I went to the house where the people that feed us live. I hung around there all the time. One day they let me in. Then they took me to see a doctor. I was poked and prodded. Very humiliating! After that I was cleaned up. No more fleas, ear mites, or worms. I even had a bath!! That sure made me feel good. Since then I have not been back outside. I don't care to either. It's either too cold or too hot. Inside is just right and there are no scary things inside either. Just this thing on wheels that makes awful noise and runs around on the floor sucking things up. But I can handle that.
Now I live a life of leisure. That was me then (above) and this is me now...

Aren't I handsome?

Puff Puff

This is the story of a dear sweet cat named Puff Puff.
She was born underneath our shed in August of 2003. She was in a litter of 7 kittens. Her mother died a few months after they were born.
Puff Puff was diferent than her brothers and sisters. She was a very friendly cat.
Whenever she saw me coming with the food she was the only one who would come running to me. After awhile, she let me pet her and we got to be good friends.
Puff Puff was blind in her left eye. She became that way from a bad infection she had gotten over the winter. Unfortunately, the vet could not do anything for her eye as it was too late. But Puff Puff didn't let that stop her. She wandered around in the woods and yards like she was the Queen of the neighborhood. And she was.
On September 27th, 2004, Puff Puff was found dead in the road in the early morning. My son was coming home from work when he found her and brought her home. We buried her in the yard she wandered around so happily that year.
I still miss seeing her around. She was small but her presence was and still is enormous. For this is Puff Puff's land.
