On Becoming a Who Fan

It all began with the release of the album "Who"s Next" by The Who. I first was introduced to it in September of 1971. The first time I heard it I was in awe. I had never heard music like this before. I played it over and over. I couldn't get enough of it. I went to bed with the songs playing in my head and woke up the same way. I went to school and all I did was talk about The Who. Most of the people in my age group(I was 13) never even heard of The Who. Especially the girls. They all thought that David Cassidy and Donny Osmond was the only music(and I use that term lightly) to listen to. It was very frustrating. I was thankful that I did not fall into that blackhole. They all had their pictures pinned up in their lockers.

This is what I had:

Thank God for The Who!!
Thank God for Pete Townshend!!

How did you discover The Who?

Brant

This is a drawing I had done about 25 years ago. It is of a Mohawk Chief named Brant. His real name was Sa Ga Yeath Qua Pieth Tow. He was one of the four "Indian Kings" who had traveled to England to see Queen Anne in 1710.This is copied from a painting that was done when he was in England. The original artwork, which was done by a Dutch painter by the name of John Verelst, is hanging in a museum in Canada. I am not quite sure which one though. I wanted to draw him because I was so intrigued by his tattoos.

I did this in both pencil and colored pencil, using different techniques. The one to the left is the original painting.

Dedicated to My Lost Kitties

I planted three birch trees last week in rememberance of the cats that have been lost this past month. There now is a total of five missing. It has been quite awhile since the first four dissappeared and just this last week, Fred went missing. I don't know what is happening to them. The remaining four have been staying close to the property. I am hoping they will be alright.
